The Leadership

“Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endureth forever.”  Psalms 107:1.

Over the course of decades in the ministry, Bishop E. N. Skyers and Pastor V.B. Skyers have continued to earnestly listen to the voice of the Lord concerning their call to serve God’s people.

The first small congregation was established in 1961, it was a church in Chorlton-cum-Hardy Lancashire; a suburban area of the city of Manchester, England. It was known locally as Chorlton. At that place many souls were saved and baptized. Clearly, this was the commencement of decades of souls brought to The Lord through the Word of Truth and the efforts of then Evangelist E. Skyers and his very capable wife. The blossoming ministry at Chorlton was thereafter turned over to the leadership of a very capable local minister; and the young couple moved on to plant another work.

From Manchester they moved to Aylesbury, England.  In Aylesbury they witnessed to, and baptized people of all races and ethnicities.  Some were even baptized in a bathtub!  At this point they had two young sons, Eroll and Paul.

Again, while earnestly listening to the Lord they left the country of England and immigrated to the country of Canada as a young family.  Clearly, ministry and the love for God’s people was in their bones since after they were settled in Canada they began yet another house ministry.

In Toronto, Canada they helped to create and establish an apostolic ministry on Bloor Street.  The work on Bloor Street was blessed tremendously.  As the work of the Lord progressed there was a blossoming fellowship with ministers and saints in the United States of America.  Once again, while earnestly listening, they knew that we were called to move again.  This young family had no idea what was in store for them in the United States of America; as they left the Toronto ministry in capable hands.

In April 1968 the young family, which now included an infant girl named Sharon, took the leap of faith and moved to Philadelphia PA.  Upon arrival in Philadelphia, the then Elder Skyers preached and evangelized relentlessly.  The family joined as members of a long-standing and well established church and thereafter; after being elevated to the office of Bishop, the Lord opened the door for Bishop Skyers to preside over a church organization that was comprised of many other churches.  By this time baby girl Shirley had made her entrance into the family.  In 1976, the Macedonian call came again to Bishop Skyers in the midst of vibrant ministry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The Lord directed this anointed couple to initiate a new ministry in Bridgeport, CT.
